【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesalaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingtherelativewaterabsorptionpropertiesovertimeofmortarsusedformasonryconstruction.Becausethespecimensaremadeunderlaboratoryconditionsanddonottakeintoaccounttheeffectofthemasonrysubstrateorfieldmixingprocedures,thismethodisnotintendedforfielduse.Datageneratedfromthistestmethodmaybeusefulfordeterminingtherelativeeffectivenessofwaterrepellentadmixturesortheeffectofotheradmixturesormortarcomponentsonthewaterrepellencyofamortar.However,usecautionininterpretingtheresults.Whiletheresistanceofmasonrytowaterpenetrationmayberelatedtothewaterabsorptionofthemortar,italsodependsonotherfactors,suchastheworkmanship,extentofbond,andthepropertiesofthemasonryunitsandmortar.1.1Thistestmethodcoversastandardizedlaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingtherelativewaterabsorptionbycapillaryuptake(wicking)characteristicsofmasonrymortars.Thistestmethodisnotapplicablefordeterminingtheeffectivenessofwaterrepellentcoatings.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
